I have recently found an interesting link regarding mainframe development and emulation.
I found it when browsing some mainframe-related forum. I think that the product should be better advertised.

• IBM created Rational Developer for System z (RDz), which is an IDE, and Rational Developer for System z Unit Test (RDz UT), which is a mainframe emulator.
  I am trying to access sandbox for both systems. So far, Unit Test doesn’t appear to be easy to access – there are persistent password issues. I am waiting for resolution by IBM support.

• In the meantime I kept looking at video showing what RDz UT is capable of.
• Another video shows EGL TUI and Batch on RDz UT.
